A male pedestrian was killed on July 13, 2026, at around 12:37 a.m. near Craig Road and Jones Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The crash occurred when the pedestrian was crossing Craig Road outside of a marked crosswalk and stumbled several times before falling onto the road. While the pedestrian was lying on the roadway, an unidentified dark-colored SUV traveling eastbound on Craig Road struck the pedestrian.

The driver remains unidentified as they did not stop, render aid, or notify police of the collision. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, and an investigation is currently ongoing.

This incident is now the 60th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD jurisdiction in 2026.

Thoughts on This Crash as a Las Vegas Car Accident Attorney

If the driver was not impaired, recklessly speeding, or running a red light, they could have had minimal to zero civil liability, with no criminal punishments in this crash, as the pedestrian, seemingly intoxicated based on the information, crossed outside of a crosswalk and fell onto the road, a clear act of negligence on the pedestrian's part.

However, since the driver hit-and-ran, if they are identified by police, they'll potentially face a felony hit-and-run charge due to substantial bodily harm being involved. Off the top of my head, the only real defense I see right now is the driver stating that since the pedestrian was lying on the road, they may have mistaken them for a piece of debris and kept on going, but I see it as a weak defense.
