A woman riding a scooter has been killed after being involved in a collision with a motor vehicle at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road.
The crash occurred at 9:45 p.m. on July 10, 2026, when a pedestrian riding a Razor scooter crossed Boulder Highway against the crossing signal before entering the path of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling northbound, causing the two to collide. The pedestrian sustained substantial injuries and was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not release the name or age of the pedestrian who was killed but stated that the driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
This collision marks the 59th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2026.
Thoughts on This Incident as a Car Accident Attorney
While drivers in Nevada owe a high level of duty of care to pedestrians, even when pedestrians are crossing out of a marked crosswalk or against signals, this collision seems to be an event where the driver won't bear any civil responsibility, as it seems that the rider of the scooter in the dark spontaneously crossed the intersection while the driver observed a green signal.
Especially since the driver showed no signs of impairment and no reckless actions were reported, the only civil case I see arising from this incident is the driver suing the pedestrian for property damage.
