The Rodney Okano Car Accident Lawyer Law Firm takes this post to recognize National Move Over Day 2026.
This day is meant to remind drivers that it’s the law in Nevada under NRS 484B.607 to slow down and move over when you see flashing construction or emergency lights on the side of the road.
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) also gave us reminders of the move-over law through an informative video and a more touching video.
Additionally, it’s important to understand that the move-over law shouldn't just be applied to road work or emergency vehicles, but also to traffic incidents such as a car accident, a stalled vehicle, or debris on the roadway.
To take part in National Move Over Day, remind the drivers in your family that when approaching road work, emergency vehicles, or a traffic scene, to:
- Decrease the speed of your vehicle
- Proceed with caution
- Be prepared to stop
- If possible, change lanes into one that is not adjacent to the incident
By Nevada drivers following those four easy steps, NDOT will never have to add another to the already 24 employees lost since 1948.
