A 43-year-old motorcyclist, Timothy Dorn, was killed during a high-speed chase in Pahrump, Nevada. The fatal crash occurred when a deputy pursued a black Honda SUV at speeds up to 104 mph. The deputy was setting up spike strips and reported a "major crash" when the suspect vehicle ran over Dorn, who was stopped at a stop sign with his left blinker on. Dorn was transported to UMC, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as James Weaver, was driving the Honda SUV at 90-100 mph when he struck Dorn. Weaver was arrested after a foot pursuit and faces charges including reckless driving resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance, and DUI with death. Law enforcement found a "crystal-like" substance (presumably positive for methamphetamine) and a white powder (presumably positive for fentanyl) on Weaver.
Donkeys of Pahrump, a rescue and viewing area for donkeys, horses, and ponies, reported that Dorn was on his way to work when the crash occurred. A GoFundMe campaign was created by Dorn's mother-in-law to assist with cremation and everyday expenses for his family, as stated in the fundraiser description. That GoFundMe can be found here.
